Tania: I was born and live in Prato, one of the largest textile industry areas in Europe. I am married and have been working almost 20 years in the textile sector as a trade agent. I arrange the sale of textile goods abroad, the biggest part of it to Germany an England. I love this job because it enables me to travel and to speak foreign languages. As my German mother grew me up bilingual, I speak almost perfect German in addition to English and French. I like cooking and I attended several professional cooking classes, so that  I could refine my hobby, learn new techniques and teach them to other people.

Elena: I was born in Prato too but now I swing between Tuscany and Baden-Württemberg, because I am married with a real Swabian. I studied foreign languages at the university. After many years work as a teacher and translator, several years ago, almost by chance, I got the opportunity to work during the summer in the reception of a large “Agriturismo”. It was love at first sight. Although still working as a teacher (Italian for foreigners - German for adults) and translator  I have also kept on working there during the summer for the next  10 years. Now that,  together with Tania, I could realize my dream, I would like to bring my experiences into this new activity.

We like cooking, travelling,  meeting new people and taking care of our garden.        From our life-and work-experiences we got the idea of giving our guests the possibility to know a little bit more of our region and its culture through cooking classes and language lessons.
Just as we love inviting friends and family at home (who never say no…) we will be happy to welcome all those who want to spend their holidays with us! We would like that you feel at home at Podere I Gobbi and if you want, we can tell you more about us and this little corner of the Tuscan countryside.
